Seltrik Tall Tubular Batteries

A lead-acid battery is a type of rechargeable battery that uses lead dioxide as the positive electrode, lead as the negative electrode, and sulfuric acid as the electrolyte. It is one of the oldest types of rechargeable batteries and is commonly used in various applications due to its reliability, low cost, and relatively high energy density.

Here are some key features and characteristics of lead-acid batteries:

The battery typically consists of lead dioxide (PbO2) as the positive plate, sponge lead (Pb) as the negative plate, and a dilute sulfuric acid (H2SO4) solution as the electrolyte.

The positive and negative plates are immersed in the electrolyte, separated by insulating material, and housed in a container.

Types

Flooded Lead-Acid (FLA): These batteries have a liquid electrolyte and are commonly found in automotive and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications.

Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA): These batteries are sealed, and the electrolyte is immobilized. VRLA batteries include absorbent glass mat (AGM) and gel batteries. They are used in applications where minimal maintenance is desired.

Applications

They are employed in backup power systems, providing emergency power in case of mains power failure (UPS systems).
